If you use Geist 2 for beat production, there’s a way to route the pads from the Geist instrument out to Studio One so you can integrate effects processing with the rest of your mix. The situation I was running into was that I needed to add some side-chain compression to the kick drum and bass. The kick drum was being produced with Geist, while the bass was in a different instrument. In order for the kick to trigger the bass’s side chain compression I needed to get the kick out of the Geist mixer and into Studio One. In the video below you can see how I did this:
Being able to route pads from Geist to Studio One offers a lot of creative possibilities. It gives us the opportunity to take full advantage of the power of Geist and still mix in our session directly in Studio One.
